Nehorai’s father worked long hours and left dealing with kids and household affairs up to his devoted wife. Nehorai loved spending time curled up on the couch with his mother, telling her how his week was going, his dreams and his worries, and getting her loving, focused attention. Everything changed when Nehorai’s mother tragically died from a massive heart attack at the age of just 49. His father couldn’t process the loss, and spent even more time out of the house than before. The children were left alone to manage daily life and their grief as best they could.
“I miss my mom so, so much. I don’t know how to handle things without her there to guide me. It helped so much having another adult in my life who cared.” Nehorai
Nehorai turned inward. A happy, trusting, communicative boy became silent and bowed down by the weight of the world. His school guidance counselor recommended that he join Kav L’Noar’s social and emotional learning group. But he wouldn’t open up. He wouldn’t talk. It seemed hopeless.
Finally, after 15 frustrating sessions, Nehorai went home and recorded a long whatsapp message, pouring his heart out to the Kav L’Noar therapist. At last Nehorai had someone able to focus on helping him.
